Daytime Emmys 2006!

Before I get to the Emmys, there two noteable events in the SoapLand today:

1. As The World Turns dedicated today's episode to the screeching and wailing of Emily Stewart painfully played by Kelley Menighan Hensley. What a horribly forgettable episode.

2. The Bold and the Beautiful - I was cheering when the cop showed up to take Bridget and Dante off the plane with baby Dominick. Couldn't happen to a more deserving selfish pair. What the hell was up with Ridge and the gun? I had a good laugh as Nick pummelled Ridge. Of course, Brooke saves Ridge. Hopefully, this wakes Nick up to where Brooke affections really lay.

Now to the Emmys ...

There apparently was a "Save Guiding Light" campaign by the voters. It is the only explanation for Kim Zimmer and Jordan Clark winning. The voters should be embarassed to overlook the amazing Susan Flannery, the best female actor in Daytime, but at least Tony Geary, the best male actor won.

I loved seeing Helen Wagner who looked beautiful. Unfortunately, she has gotten fragile and had a serious fall in her home recently. Thankfully it wasn't more serious. She is ATWT's treasure. The tribute to ATWT was well done. I was surprised that they didn't point out William Fitchner as an ATWT alum. I can't even remember Jason Briggs when he on the show. Overall, the Emmys were okay. I don't know what they were thinking having Rick Springfield open show with his 80s hit. I had a major crush on him and loved "Jesse's Girl," but come on, how are the soaps going to attract new and young viewers with Rick Springfield as their major rock and roll draw? These people just don't think. That's it for now.

CBS rules!

The Bold & Beautiful

Brooke forgives Ridge! Apparently, drugged up sex is an aphrodisiac for these two kids in love.

The Young & The Restless

I'm ready to jump through the screen and strangle Gloria. Could that murderous bitch be any more annoying?

As the World Turns

Is Lisa's new club, Crash actually supposed to be hip and trendy? It is a weird coffee house set up that is far from stylish and youthful.

Emily's meltdown continues as she heads to the cliff where she shot Paul. What exactly caused Emily to unspool into crazy?

Have you noticed that Paul falls in love almost every week? I have to confess that I don't like Roger Howarth's Paul. He is basically playing Todd Manning. Despite all the acolades, if Howarth can act then he hasn't been doing it for years.

Guiding Light

I'm ready to slap Ava. She is such a whiny nag. I'm really loving Lizzie. She is a total schemer, but I hope that the writers actually let her baby be born. She would be a scary, yet loving mother. I can see her, the baby and Roxie, her dog running around Springfield in matching outfits.

Patrick Duffy's Has Got Game!

The Bold & Beautiful

Patrick Duffy rocked today! I squealed when he threatened Ridge. I hate to date myself, but "The Man from Altantis" looks really good for his age. He definitely doesn't look old enough to be Brooke's father. Can you believe Brooke with her, "it wasn't Ridge's fault?"

Let's form a line to slap the stupid out of Bridget. I'm first. Teach her a tough lesson, Stephanie.

The Young & the Restless

Gloria is making me tear out my hair. The woman is such a clueless bitch. The truth better come out about her sabotage of Jabot's cream.

Days of Our Lives

Usually Days is always so outrageous there is nothing much to say, but Belle telling Phillip that she wants to have "another" baby is simply over the top. Wasn't she running around Salem telling everyone that she still loves Shawn just last week? I'm now convinced that Belle and Marlena belong in an insane asylum.

There isn't much else to say about the soaps today, but I'm dying to dish about "As the World Turns' future storylines and casting news so stop here if you don't want to know.

Ha, you are just like me and love spoilers.

Paolo Seganti (Damian Grimaldi) returns to ATWT on May 25th. His stay is open ended and he should be around for several months. The Beautiful Damian will be involved in Luciano's coming out to his family. There promises to be much turmoil in the Snyder/Grimaldi household this summer.

Paul Leyden (Simon Frasier) will be back in June. He has signed a 6 month contract, but may stay longer. Mike and Katie will be getting married next week, but with Simon's arrival along with the ruby/skeleton mystery it doesn't look like they will be happily married. Mike/Katie/Simon promise to be the hottest triangle in Daytime for the months to come. I love Mike and Katie and I'm torn already.

The Fun Goes On!

The Bold & the Beautiful

Who is worse Ridge or Bridget? It is a tie of the low lifes. Ridge does the dirty on Brooke and acts like the victim, while Bridget is plotting to steal her sister's child. What a bitch! Good to see Stephanie supporting her ailing daughter and telling Bridget some hard truths.

The Young & Restless

"I built this company from the ground up!" I bet Victor was born with that phrase tattooed on his butt. I like that Daniel and Lily told Colleen the truth straight up. As far as I'm concerned that is what good friends do for each other. It was cool how Daniel stood up for himself at JT. Daniel is really growing up. Colleen needs to do same and get over JT.

As the World Turns

Who is sponsoring ATWT these days? The NRA? Because people are shooting each other like they are popping candy. Could Jennifer and Dusty have a more lukewarm reunion? Will Hal ever grow a brain? Questions for the Soap Oracle wherever it is located.

Guiding Light

I loved the Spaulding/Cooper brawl in the diner. The actress who plays NuLizzie has great comedic timing. She refuses to let anyone take away from her excitement about her pregnancy. Will TPTB let her actually give birth? Could Ava be any more of a shrew? More questions to put on that list for the Soap Oracle.

All My Children

Dixie really has do better with her excuse for abandoning her son. JR is lucky that he has Adam for his parent because Dixie and Tad are just pathetic. Jacob Young did a great job today. He didn't over act. He was very effectively as the tears quietly rolled down his face and his voice cracked. Bring on JR's dark side!

Another Wild Day in Soap Land!

Where do I start? How about with the most outrageous?

Bold & Beautiful

Ridge seduces/rapes a drugged up Brooke. Didn't Y&R do this icky plot device before with Malcolm and Dru? Ron Moss (Ridge) really looked like a scheevy old man as he pawed all over Brooke.

Gawd, could Bridget be more obnoxious and insensitive to her ill sister? I can't believe Felicia didn't call a lawyer and kick Bridget's butt out the door.

Days of Our Lives

Sami decides not to tell Lexie that she has breast cancer. Uh? This is low even for Sami which is saying a lot. Hope and Bo are having the most contrived break up/divorce ever. I know we are all high tech, but asking for a divorce by email. Pluuze.

As the World Turns
First, Jennifer and now Dusty is running around the woods calling out. This couple are really Dumb and Dumber. Nice to see Susan and BarBar exchange some conversation about their nutso offspring.

Young & Restless

The Newman kids have to be the most clueless executives. See Victor, nepotism has turned Newman Enterprises into Enron. Hee. I was surprised that Ashley passed the chemistry test with Gary Ewing who has aged very nicely I must say. I'm looking forward to more of their interactions.

All My Children

Adam having Dixie shipped in a crate. Hysterical.

Well, that is the notable stuff from today's soaps. Bye for now.

Welcome to my blog!

Since I'm a huge soap opera fan, I decided to create my own blog so I can share my thoughts on the lastest developments in the soap world. With the dreadful Daytime Emmys coming up, there will definitely be lots of snark .

I mainly watch CBS soaps with "As The World Turns" as my favorite at the moment. However, thanks to SoapNet, I also follow ABC soaps and NBC's "Days of Our Lives."

I hope that other soap fans will join me here and share their thoughts on the soaps.
